New England has some of the oldest housing stock in the nation. Buyers of houses in New England need to know the advantages and pitfalls of old houses if they are to make logical decisions about which house to buy. Real Estate licensees need to have this knowledge about old house to assist potential buyer clients. Linda Griffin and Les Fossel are generally considered to be among the most knowledgeable people in New England about early houses. They have been providing the information and resources that real estate licensees need to know about early housing for over a decade. We know of no other course of this type and depth is being taught in Maine or New Hampshire. This course has been cited as an outstanding model by both Maine Preservation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Please bring a flashlight to this course, as it includes visits to two houses. This course is approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission for 7 clock hours of continuing education and by the New Hampshire Real Estate Commission for 3 credit hours.
