Aaron Despres performs commercial and residential building inspections as well as energy auditing and consulting for both new and existing homes. He has taught courses on residential efficiency to real estate brokers, homeowners, and building professionals. He is an American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Certified Inspector, a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified Building Analyst, and a Residential Energy Services (RESNET) Rater. Aaron is the owner of Up-Country Building Inspectors, Inc. located in Scarborough. He lives in Harpswell and is a member of the Cundy’s Harbor Volunteer Fire Department.
Al Boothby, ABR, CSP, GRI, MRP
Born and raised in New England, Al began his working career in the United States Air Force where he served 20 plus years as an aircrew member on KC-135 aircraft. Al accumulated over 4000 hours of flight time to include over 500 hours of combat time in support of several theaters of conflict throughout the globe. Al also spent many hours as flight, ground, and simulator instructor.
After his retirement, Al launched his new career in Real Estate specializing in residential sales. This eventually led to positions as a Sales Manager, Director of Operations, and Broker/Owner of 3 Real Estate firms. It was in these capacities that his expanding expertise in the spectrum of Real Estate allowed him to add the title of Real Estate instructor to his portfolio. Al is passionate about promoting better education and considers teaching both Real Estate professionals and the public an important part of his role as a REALTOR®.
Al is a member of the National Realtors Association, New Hampshire Realtors, and the Seacoast Board of Realtors where he served on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Education committee. Arthur has been a real estate broker for since 1979. He has taught real estate courses since 1983. Arthur has given real estate courses throughout Maine and New Hampshire for various boards of REALTORS®, Century 21, the University of Southern Maine, GRI and numerous real estate companies. He instructs the Sales Agent course, Associate Broker course, a Sales Agent Exam Preparation course, The Designated Broker course, a Maine non-resident exam prep course and numerous continuing education and designation courses. Arthur also does work for real estate companies on their Policies & Procedures Manuals, forms, etc.
Arthur has been Education Committee Chairman for both the Western Maine and the Greater Portland Board of REALTORS® as well as a Member of the Maine Association of REALTORS® Education Committee and on the Board of Directors of Tri-State REALTORS® Institute. He is past President of the Real Estate Educators Association of Maine, and past President and Treasurer of the Portland Board of REALTORS®. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Maine Association of REALTORS® and a member of the Maine Association of REALTORS® Legislative Committee. He is presently treasurer of the Maine Association of REALTORS®, president of Maine CRS, Bylaws Chair for the Great Portland Board of REALTORS®, as well as a practicing real estate broker, real estate educator and consultant. He has written student outlines and instructor texts for the Associate Broker and the Sales Agent courses. These outlines and instructor texts are being used by various instructors throughout Maine.
Arthur was honored, twice, by being selected Real Estate Educator of the Year, by REEA Maine. His Associate Broker course was, twice, selected as the Prelicensing Course of the Year. The course ‘You Worked Hard For Your License – Don’t Let It Be Taken Away’ and the course ‘Multiple Offers- The Licensee’s Role’ were also awarded the Continuing Education Course of the Year by the Real Estate Educators Association of Maine. Catherine has been working with Title Resource Group for 13 plus years, and is currently working with their company Great East Title Services. Prior to joining doing title work, she was a Realtor earning many state-wide awards, managed Real Estate offices and was a real estate trainer. She has a Maine Brokers license, GRI and has earned the 1031 Certification. Catherine is a member of the National Association of Realtors and a member affiliate of 3 Regional Boards. Her favorite expression is “the more I learn the less I know”. Locally, Catherine has offered workshops on over a hundred topics for people in the industry and to the public. She serves on the local Habitat for Humanity board, Maine Association of Realtors Affordable Housing Foundation, co-hosted the Dancing with the Realtors and has been a volunteer at the homeless shelter. She is known as the “ask Jeeves” of real estate to many.

real estate and energy management skills give him a unique perspective about sustainable energy

in and around Greater Boston with Leading Edge Real Estate.
As a real estate consultant, he has partnered with a broad range of companies including

Energy, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. Craig was one of five people in the U.S. to

Gary has over 35 years’ experience in Real Estate related industries. He was the founder of Horizon Settlement Services, Inc. in 1996 where he served as CEO/President until the sale of the company to Market Street Settlement Group, LLC in 2014. During his title career as a Title Insurance Agent, he has personally closed over 6,200 real estate transactions and has overseen in excess of 30,000 transactions in his various management positions. Gary also founded Accredited Real Estate Academy, a provider of real estate and mortgage lending education in New Hampshire and Maine. He is a former President of the Mortgage Bankers & Brokers Association of N.H. and an active member of the Association of REALTORS® in Maine and New Hampshire. He is the past owner and President of Bourque Realty, Inc. for 25 years and is currently a co-owner of Realtyology, Inc., a new blended real estate sales firm located in Leominster. Gary is a past Board member of the North Central Massachusetts Association of Realtors® and currently serves on various committees including Education, Real Estate School, Professional Standards (Chair), Golf and Orientation where he is also an instructor for the Code of Ethics and many other real estate and real estate appraisal classes. He is also a certified instructor for continuing education at the Central Mass Real Estate Institute, an instructor for the Massachusetts Association of Realtors®, and a Nationally Certified AQB USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) instructor by the Appraisal Foundation instructing appraisal classes in multiple states including Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont. Jeff Chute has been in the real estate business for over 33 years. His roles have included agent, office manager, and principal-broker, state-certified real estate instructor and expert witness. Along the way, he has earned the ABR, SRES, GREEN, SRS, CBR, GRI, REOS, SFR, HAFA and BPOR designations. A recipient of the 2003 REALTOR® Outstanding Service Award from the Plymouth and South Shore Association of REALTORS®, Jeff has been a part of many committees both at the local and state level. A Massachusetts certified instructor, Jeff has taught a number of designation classes including the SRES and GREEN courses along with numerous CE courses in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. As a HUD 203k renovation consultant, Jeff is up to date on the latest construction techniques and current cost-to-cure estimating.
Kathleen (Kat) Marquis is the principal of Marquis Mediation. She is a Conflict Resolution specialist. Kat is an Attorney and Court-Certified Mediator with over 20 years of professional legal experience, specializing in commercial litigation, business, and real estate matters. As a practitioner and commercial litigator, she has been involved with litigating, settling and resolving thousands of cases in her legal career. Attorney Marquis has completed extensive training focusing on mediation, negotiation, conflict theory, impasse strategies, and the dynamics of core mediation and conflict resolution principles. She negotiates and resolves complex, multi-party disputes in connection with her litigation and mediation practices.

Kristen has been licensed as a Maine REALTOR® since 2006. She began coaching & training agents very early in her real estate career when she worked as an assistant on a team. She continued her own real estate practice & was then hired as an instructor with her agency, eventually working that into a full-time position as the Director of Training & Technology. She enjoyed utilizing her degree in education, her attention to detail, rules & regulations and her previous teaching experience in this new industry. She developed and executed an extensive array of classes covering all aspects of real estate practice as well as consulting.
After several years as a member of the senior leadership team with her agency, the time was right for a change. After discussions with many different companies, she felt that she has found her “tribe” with Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate | The Masiello Group. She was hired as the Director of Training in April 2018 and was thrilled to get to work coordinating the training resources for this large, 4 state, Northern New England agency. She was then given the opportunity to expand into the role of Director of Education, also incorporating the role of Director of the Arthur Gary School of Real Estate, which serves all agencies in our Northern New England area and has a diverse group of instructors affiliated with various companies. She is now in the process of forming her own real estate team at The Masiello Group’s office in Brunswick, Maine.

Les is a graduate of Lake Forest College. He has been restoring old buildings since 1975. Les has taught over 2,000 assessors, appraisers, real estate licensees and inspectors about old buildings. He has also given lectures and workshops for hundreds of local, county, state and national groups. Les currently inspects over 100 buildings per year for re-sale, preservation or condition assessment for buyers, preservationists and non-profit organizations and donates his time to many Maine non-profit organizations with historic buildings.
Linda has been in real estate since 1991. She was a contractor for 8 years and restored over 20 early homes and moved two. Linda now specializes in listing and selling antique homes all over Southern Maine. She has taught real estate courses for 7 years and currently teaches at area adult education classes and speaks at local historical societies. Linda is a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono. She is currently co-president of the Windham Historical Society and has recently helped revive the Cornish Historical Society.
Lisa Lavigne has worked with MaineHousing’s First Home Program since 1989. She has assisted in the development and administration of many affordable housing programs over the years. In addition to ensuring loan compliance, Lisa regularly provides technical assistance and trainings for both lenders and real estate professionals.
Mark began his Real Estate career in 1969 as an apartment manager in Ma. While attending a nearby Community College in 1970, Mark enlisted into the U.S. Navy Reserves, Sea Bee Division, where he received the “Honorman Achievement Award” for his outstanding leadership skills. Mark would go on to purchase his first property, a 6 unit apartment building and attained his MA Salesperson License in 1972. Mark developed an interest in appraising R.E. and began his appraisal career in 1983 and went on to become a Certified Residential R.E. Appraiser. Mark added another business to his already busy schedule by becoming an Approved Certified Real Estate Instructor and stated that “being a real estate instructor had been a passion of mine for years”. After many years, Mark decided to take the Broker exam, passed and now continues his career as a Real Estate Broker, the owner of National Asset Valuation, a full service Real Estate Appraisal enterprise, Certified State of Ma Approved R.E. Instructor and Tutors those who need help in passing the Salesperson and Broker exams. Mark enjoys acting in Community Theatre, the beach and has a passion for instructing R.E. Courses with a “Bit of Comedial Pinache”. Mark is happily married, a father of 3 children and grandfather of 3. Mark says “life is good”.
Michael Mercer is a retired police officer with over thirty years of crime-prevention experience. Nationally Certified Chemical Agent Specialist, Expert Witness, and National Practitioner in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. He is a US Navy Veteran, President of the Maine Association of Police Retirees, He is a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Police Emerald Society. Michael’s Realtor Safety Awareness Class has been approved by the Director of the Maine Real Estate Commission for 3 clock-hours toward fulfillment of the educational requirements for real-estate professionals.

Michele has been practicing real estate since 1998. She has consistently been a top producer while being the Operations Manager at Bay Realty in Portland. Michele belongs to the Greater Portland Board of REALTORS® and sits the Professional Standards Committee. Michele has served as President and Director of the Maine Real Estate Resource Center, a subsidiary of the Greater Portland Board of REALTORS®. Michele also served on the Board of Directors of the Maine Association of REALTORS® and sat on the Contract Review Committee for many years. Michele was the recipient of the Greater Portland Board of REALTORS® “Spirit Award”. Michele has been instructing at the Arthur Gary School Of Real Estate since 2002. She currently resides in Old Orchard Beach with her husband Garry. She has two adult children Eric and Rhianna and four Grandchildren, Molly, Simon, Callen and Finn.

Paul Amatucci is currently responsible for all aspects of Renovation and Construction Lending for Regency Mortgage, with headquarters in Hooksett, NH. This position includes lender and investor interaction, guideline review, operational support, realtor presentations and education, loan officer training, builder interface, marketing and advertising. Paul conducts continuing education courses for real estate licensees in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island. Previously he was the Senior Mortgage Executive for Northern New England for M&T Bank. His activities included education, training and follow on interaction with retail loan officers for renovation, construction, and other lending.
Peter got into the inspection business at the suggestion of a few Realtors© he was doing house repairs for. After pointing out other things that needed to be done to the house, they thought he would be a great Inspector. He started in 1999 part-time, working for a franchised Home Inspection company, and then went full-time after one year. When the owner of that franchise sadly passed away after he was with them three years, Peter started his own company in 2003. Business increased every year, so in 2013 he hired someone to work in the office and in 2015 he hired a part-time Home Inspector to work with him, who has since gone full time and is now doing inspections on his own.
Sharon has lived in the Concord area since 1980. Sharon is a licensed broker and justice of the peace. Over the past fifteen years, Sharon has become known for teaching real estate elective classes and pre-licensing to agents all over the state of New Hampshire.
After spending ten years in the title industry, Sharon retired to travel for two years; it was a wonderful experience, but being settled back where the grandchildren are living is an even greater joy. Sharon is happy to be back working with buyers and sellers using her many years of experience and knowledge to help everyone have an enjoyable real estate experience.
